Letters of Reccomendation?

<p>Does anybody know if they help at all, or do they just discard them? Other posters keep talking about strong rec letters, but do they even read them? I had two teachers right letters of recommendation for me and I'm just curious if anybody has any insight.</p>

<p>Of course, they read them and LORs are particularly important for borderline candidates. The caveat is that there are way too many LORs with "best student in my X years of teaching". A LOR that is less than 100% enthusiasm could signal the wrong message to adcom.</p>
