Letters of recommendation from teachers in same subject area

Although I have done well in all my classes, I feel that I have truly excelled in all of my literature classes throughout high school. I have received many praises such as "the best I have seen in my career". I feel that my junior and sophomore literature teachers know me the best on an academic level and a personal level out of all of the teachers I have had. That is why I want to ask both of them. I know it is not normal to have both letters of recommendation from teachers in the same subject area, so I was just wondering if this would hurt my application? Also, would the fact that one of the teachers was my sophomore year teacher be detrimental as well?

Thank you for your help

If I were you I’d choose one of your two literature teachers to do a teacher rec for you (preferably your junior year teacher). Then choose a teacher from another subject area (math/science if possible) to do your other teacher rec. The other literature teacher (sophomore year teacher) could do the additional “extra” recommendation.

Good luck!

Would a letter of recommendation from my French teacher be suitable for the second recommendation? She was my junior year French teacher. Or is it really important for the other recommendation to be in the math/science area?

I think most schools would find that acceptable. The math/science recommendation is more of a guideline than a requirement, so you’ll be fine.
