Letters of Recommendation issue.

So the teacher who I asked to write me a letter of rec teaches Computer Graphic Arts and to my knowledge, is not technically considered an “academic” teacher (i.e. one that teaches the core subjects like math, science, etc.). After double checking I had sent in everything to the schools I applied to, it appears that one of them specifically asked for a letter from an “academic” teacher. My fault for not reading it correctly before, but now I’m in a predicament. It’s REALLY late to ask a teacher to write one for me, however my counselor said I should get another one to be safe. Should I try and ask a teacher of mine to write one ASAP or should I just hope for the best with the one I have now? Any advice would be great. I’m kind of stressing out about it since the deadlines have past.

Is there a teacher from an academic area that knows you really well? If so, i’d encourage you to ask them and provide them with a resume/brag sheet so it is easier for the teacher. Explain the situation and see what he/she says. Probably only worth it if they can get a letter in very quickly, since you are past deadline. Good luck!

The problem is that there isn’t really a teacher that knows me super well. I’ve always been pretty quiet in my classes, but I do get good grades and consider myself a good student. I’m worried that I’ve lessen my chances of getting into the school(s) I want to. Hindsight is 20/20.

@Ry1459 When in doubt, ask your English teacher.

I think you’re good. At this point in the admissions cycle, ADCOMS aren’t looking for more to read or to do. If they have 2 very good letters, academic or not, you’re fine.

I got a Spanish teacher who I had for 2 years to write me one, so I think I’m set. Thanks for the advice guys.

Glad you got another letter, Ry. Thanks for posting this since your experience can help others. Best wishes!

Yeah, that’s exactly why I posted on here, to help others if they have a similar issue like me.
