The Rice Common App does not have an option for 'Other Recommender' like other schools but I still wish to send in a particular letter that I believe will help my chances. I understand that there is a form that teachers will fill out online then attach a letter to it or something like that. Do I just send the extra letter itself to the office of admission? Is there a separate form that my recommender can use? What's the best way to send this letter so that it can be seen and help my chances to get in?

They accept recommendation letters from other recommenders via both email and mail. Please make sure to ask your recommender to send the letter directly to Rice.

you can print out a duplicate copy of the form and give it to the teacher. Have them fill it out with your letter and send it in directly.

For other recommenders, I had my recommender send the letter by mail. Basically, I created a letterhead that included my name, CommonApp ID, date of birth, high school name, and “Supplemental Letter or Recommendation” - identification that will allow the admissions office to match the letter to my application.

On the envelope, on the bottom left had corner, I wrote my name, name of high school, “Letter of Recommendation.” and the name of the recommender.

You want the admissions office to match your letter to your application so they don’t lose it.

You can also do what Antarius is telling you to. I haven’t actually read the “form” from CommonApp in great detail and chose not to use it anyways.

Good luck!
