Letters of Recommendation?

How many letter of recommendation should I send? I'm applying ed this coming November.
I'm planning on sending three:
-AP Statistics teacher
-Assistant Principal (Math Department)
-A College Professor
Ofcourse the college counselor recommendation is required. (So it is four if you include this.)
Should I cut down?

nah, send as many as you want, they can't hurt unless someone writes terrible, terrible things about you, which is very doubtful

How many letters of recommendations are needed? I thought only one teacher's rec is required and one from the counselor.

So we are allow to sent more?

Counselor, teacher, US Congressman (I know that NYU doesn't care about political prominence, but I did work for the guy for quite a while)

As someone who knows two people who work in the admissions office, they won't read more than the required one from your counsellor and one teacher of a core subject. If you send more than that, you're risking the most important one not being read. It's like supplementary materials, it's a waste of time. With 35,000 apps to get through, they're only looking for what they specifically ask to be sent.

I just called NYU undergraduate admissions and was told they will only guarantee to read one teacher rec, so if you think one will be better than the other, just send that one, otherwise they may end up reading the one that is not as good...and ONLY the one that is not as good. If you think they are equal, you are welcome to send two, but they will not guaranteee more than one will be read.

On the form, which option did you people check off regarding the waiver release? Should I check the one which allows me to see my teacher's recommendation?

my teachers told me it doesnt really matter...

I think that is a form from your HS, ours dont let you see the recs

I checked the one that waive my right to read my teacher's recommendation because I trust her and I want her to know that. It depends, I suppose...

does nyu accept recommendation from a foreign language teacher? (spanish)

im thinking about possibly majoring in international relations if i get accepted and i want to emphasize my focus on international stuff, i don't know...

I'm getting a recommendation letter from a Spanish teacher...as long as its one of the core subjects they don't care I think - as long as the teacher knows you well and can write you a positive recommendation

so foreign language is considered a core class? I wasn't quite sure of that because its considered an elective at my school.

The core subjects at my school are Religion and English...everything else is considered elective (only for senior year) - on College Applications like UMich it states that foreign language is a core subject and is acceptable.

Core subjects as considered by NYU are English, Math, Science, History, and foreign language. These are the subjects which they want to see you taking all four years of high school.
