So, for college, I know which teacher I am going to have write my letter of rec... would it be too much if I also attached a letter of rec from my debate coach and the head of a community service organization i have worked with?

bump..........................................................

Since no one else responded - well, for what it is worth an admissions officer at Rice addressed this by suggesting NOT to send additional recs - in general. Said some applicants send more recs than required to the point that it annoys rather than otherwise. Most letters of rec all say the same thing more or less or the person would not be asked to write one: you know, great kid and so on. She did say maybe one (or so) additional recs IF the information written was unique and unable to be known otherwise. Don't know if this helps or not.

IMO if the one from the community service person is focused on your commitment to community service, it would serve as a good contrast to the ones from your teachers focusing on your academics/personality.

Send them in.

It depends on the school.

Some schools say this is okay, others absolutely not.
Check what the preference is before you apply/send them in.
