Letters of Recommendation

I know that UC applications don't require letters of recommendation. One of my CCC professors told me that he would write one for me anyway, that he thinks that it's worth a shot.

At the same time, I want to take my prerequisites at UCB (my top school) during summer session and by concurrent enrollment. I thought it would really help to get a letter of recommendation from a UCB philosophy professor for my UCB philosophy application.

Thoughts? Has anyone done this? Any admission officials received transfer letters of recommendation?

they wont look at any letters of rec. They clearly asked for none so they wont make any exceptions to look at yours because that will give you an unfair advantage.

is this from experience? I wouldn’t have even asked if my CCC prof, who’s affiliated with 1 of the UCs told me to anyway, I told him that I was pretty sure they didn’t accept them, and he just said do it anyway.

Cantabilen> While your prof. might be associated with a UC, it’s most likely not as part of the admissions committee process. guitarfrk was correct… unfortunately they won’t review LORs. With solid grades and a compelling essay you’ll stand a good shot.

On the UC website, somehwere, it says that letters of rec will be thrown out, and will not be considered, no matter what.

They will not look at them, if he really wants to write it, have him write it anyways and generelize it so you can use it for grad school
