SO I THINK I MESSED UP. BIG TIME. All year all I heard was "two letters of recommendations from teachers" but I only really felt comfortable asking from one teacher and I had a part time job during three summers and my bosses really loved me so I assumed that as long as I had two, they were fine. So now I only have one rec from an academic teacher (World History) and one from a boss? I'm looking at UPenn and they say require two teacher letter of recs. Does this mean I can't apply to them at all?

Yes, you’ll need another teacher rec to apply.

If you can’t “feel comfortable” seeking a 2nd teacher’s rec, then the colleges feel that is a deal breaker. Either suck it up and do something uncomfortable or submit apps that the colleges will deem incomplete – and won’t yield any positive decisions.

Every single one of your competitors is submitting two teacher recs. What does it say about you, to the colleges, if you can’t?

This was such a stupid question to ask in hindsight. It worked out, though. I got the chairperson for the English department to write me one… But now I have one from a history teacher and an English teacher when I’m a science major…Oh well…
