Letters of Regret / Acceptance

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to post their letters of regret / acceptance for Dean's / Davenport Scholars, University Honors, or regular acceptance. I'm doing a psychology project on how the wording of letters of regret and letters of acceptance can affect a student, and so far I have no letters of regret from amongst my friends save one from UVa Jefferson Scholars.

Thanks in advance.

regular admissions:

Congratulations! A letter offering you admission to Virginia Tech was
mailed to you today. As an excellent student eligible to apply for
University Honors, your application review was completed on an
accelerated schedule, enabling the Admissions Committee to finalize your
decision ahead of the April 1 Regular Decision notification date.

The offer packet that has been mailed to you should arrive in a few
days. Included in the envelope will be a listing of Final Requirements
for admission and instructions on how to accept the offer. In the
meantime, you will find helpful information at
<a href="http://www.admiss.vt.edu/apply/freshman/accepting_the_offer.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.admiss.vt.edu/apply/freshman/accepting_the_offer.php</a> on the
"Accepting the Offer of Admission" page.

I look forward to hearing that you have accepted our offer of admission.
Once again, congratulations on your admission to Virginia Tech!

Sincerely,
Norrine Bailey Spencer, Ph.D.

Dean's/Davenport:

Thank you for your application for the Virginia Tech College of Engineering Dean’s Scholar/Davenport Leadership program. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer you this scholarship since we do not have sufficient funding to make awards to all of the applicants who qualify. This does NOT mean you will not be admitted to Virginia Tech; the offer of admission will come directly from Undergraduate Admissions, sometime in late March.

We received over 600 applications from students with outstanding scholastic records, leadership, and community service activities. Scholarship application ranking was determined by academic record, extra curricular/community service activity (with concentration on leadership involvement), honors, employment, and overall presentation of application.

If you decide to enroll in the College of Engineering at Virginia Tech please keep in mind that you will be able to apply for college and departmental scholarships for the next academic year (08/09) in early spring of 2008. Visit the Engineering website at <a href="http://www.eng.vt.edu/academics/scholarships_ugrad.php%5B/url%5D">http://www.eng.vt.edu/academics/scholarships_ugrad.php</a> to learn more about the scholarship process.

Best wishes as you pursue your higher education.

Sincerely,
Mike Deisenroth
