Just out of curiousity, what does an acceptance letter from Harvard look like? I've wanted to see one my entire life, and I probably won't get one so I might as well see someone elses (lol).

um well, i can post my acceptance email:

Ms. XXX XXXXX

Dear Ms. XXXXX, I am delighted to inform you that the Committee on Admissions and Financial Aid has voted to offer you a place in the Harvard Class of 2010. Following an old Harvard tradition, a certificate of admission is enclosed. Please accept my personal congratulations for your outstanding achievements.

This year nearly twenty-three thousand students applied for admission to the entering class. Faced with many more talented and highly qualified candidates than it had room to admit, the Admissions Committee took great care to choose individuals with exceptional character as well as unusual academic and extracurricular strengths. The Committee is convinced that you will make important contributions during your college years and beyond.

Our faculty and students extend a special invitation for you to visit Cambridge over the next few weeks. If you feel a visit would be helpful in making your final college choice, we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity. An invitation is enclosed.

We need to know by May 1 whether or not you plan to accept our offer of admission. You may fill out and return the enclosed postcard or you may respond online at http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/admitted/reply_online. (Your PIN is XXXXXX) If you accept admission for this coming September, further information will be sent to you over the summer by the Freshman Dean's Office. Each year some admitted students choose to defer entrance for a year and find their many and varied experiences extremely rewarding. If you would like to defer, please tell us about your alternative plans.

Among the enclosed materials you will find a final School Report Form, which must be completed by your school counselor and returned to us at the end of this academic year. The Committee on Admissions reserves the right to withdraw its offer of admission under certain conditions described on the postcard enclosed for your response.

We have a longstanding commitment to meet the financial needs of our admitted students. No limit has been set on the financial resources devoted to making the College fully accessible to all students of promise, and we have a firm policy of making supportive offers of need-based financial aid. We encourage you to contact us now or at any time during your years here if you have questions or concerns about financial aid or if you have additional information that might be helpful to us in understanding your family's financial circumstances.

I very much hope that you will decide to join us at Harvard. We have enclosed a statement about Harvard's opportunities which might be helpful to you in making your college choice. Whatever your decision may be, you have my best wishes for every future success.

Sincerely, William R. Fitzsimmons Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Man I shed some tears while reading that (just kidding). Hope I get something very similar later this year.

I'll post mine too:

Early Action:
[QUOTE]
December 14, 2004

Dear [name],

The Committee on Admissions has just completed its Early Action meetings
during which your application for admission was reviewed. After very
careful consideration, we were unable to take a definite action on your
candidacy at this time and therefore have deferred our decision until the
regular spring meetings.

Please be assured that your entire application will be considered again
thoroughly. While it is impossible to predict individual admission
decisions, in recent years students whose applications were deferred have
been admitted at various rates, at times close to those for Regular Action
candidates. We will communicate the Committee's decision to you in April.

We hope you will write to us if you have new information to add to your
application materials. Recent grades or test results, activities, honors,
or other accomplishments would be of interest to the Committee as it
reviews your application again in the spring meetings.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. You have our best
wishes for a rewarding and productive year.

Sincerely,
William R. Fitzsimmons
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

A scan

Senator Schumer's name was hand written on his admissions certificate, we only get a computer generated one lol j/k.

Schumer's daughter is here now.

anyone has EA letter? I WANT A COPY!! NOW!! lol j/k. i'm extremely interested in it though so if you would, thank you! =) and congratz! xD hope to see you next year!!

hmm, i was deferred EA... so my deferral letter is just like xjayz...

how did it feel when you were deferred? then to be accepted?! =) i'm applying EA too and i'm already nervous lol.. of course i'm excited but! talking about it makes it feel better !

well, when i was deferred, i was sorta disappointed. even though i thought i had no shot at all, it was still sad to see that i wasn't accepted. then when i got accepted, it was the weirdest feeling ever. i was sorta in disbelief. i mean, i didn't realize how much i was expecting rejection until i got my acceptance letter. i was so in shock that i reread the email like 20 times. i mean, i realized that i sorta had a chance, but i never thought i would get in at all. i am still sorta in disbelief.

lol awww! it's like the ivy dreamer's cinderella story!! i'm so glad you got in though! =) congratulations! lol rest of senior year must feel like super duper wonderful! hope i can meet you next year.. =)

oh thanks, yubi!!!

i remember when i was in like 5th grade i read a magazine article about these Harvard students who said that whenever they told anyone they went to Harvard, it was like dropping the "H-Bomb" then i sorta imagined myself being able to drop the h-bomb...

i also remember reading a few years ago about Harvard's Sex mag called the H-Bomb, and i just thought that Harvard students must be really laid back and cool to start a school sex magazine.

but i never thought in a million years, that i would be able to both drop the H-bomb and read the H-bomb... it is sorta exciting

and those students were right, telling people that you are going to Harvard is just like dropping a hydrogen bomb.

you can make important contributions during your college years and beyond.

arranged a special welcome for you and we think the experience will be

interesting and useful in making your final college choice. Of course, we

would also be happy to have you visit at some other time and we hope you

will make a special effort to do so if you will be unable to join us in

April.

Especially if you cannot come to Cambridge during the next several months,

please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of help in any way. You

spring to help familiarize you with our academic opportunities. We are

enclosing a statement about choosing a college that might be helpful.
