I am hopeful for you, too. My son's letter might be late because we are in a small rural post office - my husband swears most mail takes a day or two extra. Congratulations on your acceptances also!!!

Flybass,
Congratulations!! Hopefully, my son will see you at Vassar!!!

Flybass, Congratulations! Vassar needs people from Iowa. When you arrive you can also tell everyone why Grinnell is so good, since I doubt anyone applying to Vassar took time to fly to Iowa to visit that school.

Hah, I actually visited and am applying to Grinnell as well as Vassar. My father went there too.

Thank you. I hope all goes well for you Oni. It can't be much longer for you or Adigal's son. About Grinnel, I actually didn't visit the school until rather recently. My friend and I were coming back from a Modest Mouse concert and we decided to stop and take a look. My mother gave me a hard time about not applying there.

Finally! I called Admissions, and the Officer called back, and they emailed my son and he is IN!!! Thrilled about this!! Now we are just waiting on Financial Aid, but I think it will all work out!!
Good luck to others still waiting!!

I was hoping that your son would get good news!

:(

It still hasn't arrived!

Hah, I'm seriously pulling my hair out...If it doesn't come tomorrow, then I will be contacting admissions.

Call Admissions. I called Admissions for my son today, and they wouldn't tell me, but the Admissions Officer called back, and asked to talk to him. He wasn't available until late in the day, so she emailed the decision to his school email. He got in! So don't think the delay is a bad thing! Good luck, we are hoping for you!
Adigal

Thanks, ofcounsel!
We are very, very excited, and appreciative of the opportunity given to him to attend one of the best colleges in the country. Just a great gift for him to receive!

Still no word today. I'm getting concerned! I called and left Vassar a message earlier, and will be emailing now.

I hope for tomorrow!

jeez that sucks. good luck tomorrow

I emailed Vassar last night and asked about my application, etc.

Got an email back this morning with my letter attached.

Admissions decision: Rejected.

Oh well :(

I am so sorry, OniLawliet. I have admired your patience and fortitude through this long wait, and I think you would have been an outstanding member of the class. You have shown a remarkable maturity throughout this whole process.

Where else have you applied? You will get in to some place that you love, that will be a perfect fit for you. I was really prepared for my son's rejection, and was confident that he would see that one of his other schools was better if Vassar didn't take him. So will you.

Let us know how you make out, please! Good luck, you are an impressive young man.

Thanks for those kind words adigal. I was upset when I first read the email, but now I'm over it and putting it behind me.

Vassar was my first choice, followed closely by Reed College, so I just sent my EDII app to Reed. I've also sent the remainder of my apps this morning. I've applied to Oberlin, Grinnell, Middlebury, Skidmore, Whitman, and Macalester. And I've already been happily accepted by Lewis and Clark College, so it's a nice little safety to have and keep in the background.

Frankly, I knew Vassar would be a stretch for me (as are other schools on my list!) but I figured I need to try my best and kind of "shoot for the stars" in this college application process. If Vassar doesn't work out, then no big deal; they're plenty of other schools out there for me. Whatever happens will happen, and I will wind up where I should be.

Thanks though! And congratulations for your son.

I too am very sorry Oni. I wish you luck in the rest of the process.

Thank you flybass for your concern.

Lately, I've just been repeating the same phrase in my head. I find it to be a nice stress reliever in the application process:

Some doors will close, but many new and perhaps better ones will open.
