Level of Interest

My son and I live out of the country, which leaves us only about two weeks this summer to return to the U.S. for his college visits. We want to prioritize our time and visits wisely. Is there a way, barring emailing each perspective school, to determine whether level of interest is considered in the admissions process?

We will put those schools at the top of the list and hit the others if there is time available.

Collegeboard.com lists the most important factors considered in acceptance.

Also if interest is a big deal, there will be a section on the application along the lines of ‘Why School X’

There are schools that consider level of interest shown by doing such things as visiting but not many. Emory is one I am aware of.

Look on College Board. In general, schools like ivies don’t care. The LACs tend to and among other highly selective schools Vandy and Emory are indeed famous for rejecting those that don’t visit.

Smaller schools are more likely to care. Big state universities? Not so much.
