I am a good student now, but I basically blew off school during my freshman and sophomore years. I have everything else going for me (ECs, SAT scores, etc.) except for my mediocre GPA.

I'm currently a second-semester junior (third marking period just started). Realistically, what is the highest I can hope to pull my GPA by the end of this year if I work incredibly hard?

As everyone else said, work really hard and it will come up. If your concern is over colleges, they will see an upward trend combined with all the other good aspects of your app. It will not be a problem really. Just make sure you have a huge upward trend.

If you really just try, reallyreally, not just saying you did, you can get it up A LOT. I really slacked off junior year (BAD BAD BAD) and senior year... I'll probably get my 3.2 up atleast 3 or four points. So just try really hard...

And depending on what schools you're looking at, it may be okay with all the ECs and other stuff. I had 3.2 (3.8W) and got into all my schools... mostly thanks to my stellar ECs

Anyways, the important thing to do is just do your best. {I sound soooo cliched}. If you know you can get straight 100s, just do it. Listen to Nike.

That GPA is perfectly acceptable. If you work really hard, you probably can bring it up to a 90. Just don't go back to blowing school off, and stay focused =) But, you can still get into great schools with that GPA. In the end, it doesn't really matter, anyway. My dad slacked all during HS and college (not that I'm praising the slacker-life !!!), realized that he had to start caring, and now works harder than anyone else I know. He's the president of his company, and is very successful. As long as you (eventually =D) gain drive and diligence-- and it seems that you already have-- you'll do fine!

Probably not, but you don't need 100s! Just do your best! 95s and even (gasp) A-s are great too. It stinks that you've decided to get 'serious' about school a bit later into your high school 'career,' but don't panic. Those B's have already happened. A lot of people try really hard and end up with your GPA. Just learn from your mistakes =)
