Lewis??

Does anyone know the approximate room size of the rooms in Lewis? My son is staying there this year and found an old floor plan online that says that most rooms are 13x19, with the exception of the triples which are larger. However, he has a friend that stayed there this summer and he told him that some of the rooms seemed significantly smaller.

I want to get a carpet but not quite sure what size to get. RHA recommends 12x12 but that may just be because it's the largest they have.

Does anyone here have any experience with this dorm and can tell me the room size?

Thanks in advance!

Check the floorplans online for your son’s room. They’re here: [Lewis | UNC Chapel Hill Housing and Residential Education](http://housing.unc.edu/residence-halls/lewis)
That should give you the exact size of your son’s room, not what the average size of the rooms are.

Thank you! Just did that, and it looks like the floor plan he downloaded. We were taking that as fact until his friend said the rooms look smaller. He also called the school to make sure the floor plan was accurate but they really didn’t know. I guess we’ll go with it and be prepared to cut the carpet if it’s too large!! Thanks Lauriebeth!

I think that the 13x19 measurement includes the closets in the 19’.

At least for my drom it seems to be that way and if you take away the length of the closet from the room it brings the measurements much more in line with the average size.

Thanks Chipmoney, we assumed we would take into account 3 feet for the closet and would look for roughly a 12 x 15 or 12 x 16 carpet.

When you click on a carpet color it gives you the recommended size for each dorm.

Yes I saw that, it recommends 12x12 (we were thinking maybe becasue that is the largest they sell!!)

Thanks!

I know for ehaus they recommend a 10 x 12 rug and the room I am in is only 10 x 15 so I think you could safely go for quite a bit less than the recommend one and still cover a good bit of the floor
