I am unsure if this has been asked recently, so sorry if it has been, but do gay people have trouble fitting in at Pepperdine? I'm from the south, so I've been around evangelism for my entire life pretty much, but I didnt know if Pepperdine was much different.

Hey! I had the same question to my college councillor since I am bisexual. He told me that anywhere you go, there will be unpleasant people. Pepperdine isn’t an exception, and of course you will find people who are not so pro-LGTB rights. However, you will also find people who are very pro-LGBT, you’re still in California, remember! If this was a school in say, the mid-south this would be more of an issue, but since it’s not I think it should be ok!

I am applying for RD there, and I am really excited by the school!

Good luck!

Why go to a school whose “authoritative guide book” classifies your sexual lifestyle/choices as being undesirable? If you were looking for help to live differently, perhaps, but I don’t think that is what you are looking for. (Even then, I’m not sure that school would profess to be able to help with any special expertise). It seems like there are so many choices where this is not case?? That stuff is part of their identity as much as your choices are part of yours. Why seek out a group that you will either clash with, have to hide from, or require them to abandon some of their own core values in order to accept you? Mystifying, when there are so many other options…
“If you were looking for help to live differently, perhaps,…” I do not mean to presume too much, and apologize if I read too much into your OP.
Hey guys! I watch this girl who’s currently a junior at Pepperdine and she made a video titled Homosexuality: A Christian Perspective on her YouTube channel called LizziesAnswers. It helped me understand what the atmosphere at Pepperdine is like. Pepperdine seems open minded and it was because of Pepperdine that the YouTuber (Lizzie)'s idea on LGBT people changed dramatically. So check out the video!! Oh also, when are you guys applying? I’ll be high school class of 2016 and will be applying for Pepperdine class of 2020
And really bugs me when others who don’t even go to the school assume that Pepperdine is full of stuck up, racist, sexist, and homophobic white people… (Yes, aware that not everyone thinks that Pepperdine is like that but I have come across some) Don’t trust anything not from a first hand account!
