would a gay student be happy at cmc?

when i visited i loved the campus atmosphere but didnt sense very much... alternativeness? cmc is my #1 choice academically, but im not sure if i would fit the social mold. thoughts?

thanks!

from what ive seen CMC is very accepting of gay students... obviously youll have some people who arent but no matter where you go there will be those kinds of people

i remember fliers around the other day for a party for gay students... the student president of CMC is openly gay and everyone likes him a lot... its not a big deal at all

It's important to remember that this is college. Generally, people are more accepting of nearly everything. But that said, no matter where you go there will be those who are cool with it and those who aren't. I recommend contacting the Queer Resources Center and talk to them directly. Also, if CMC is your #1 choice... let this not stop you. There may be issues, however, that you would want to address once accepted (ie. rooming)- but that's down the line.

thanks for your responses, they are very reassuring!

while im at it... can anybody chance me? im applying EDI, i finally decided:

-just re-took SAT and got 2010 (cr: 630, m: 660, w:720)
-ACT first time was 27. im retaking it this weekend. i should do way better considering the first time i took it i was sick.
-3.7 GPA, 4.1 weighted public high school
-no rank
-hardest possible schedule: 5 AP classes senior year, self-studying 2
-good ECs, mostly centered around international relations (MUN prez taking club to first ever international conference), good community service
-my recs will be amazing, my teachers are absolutely obsessed with me and all 3 of them offered to write them for me (i know youre only supposed to have 2)
-interview in a couple of weeks... should be pretty good.
-i have visited cmc a couple times, went to their presentation at my school, and email the lady that came here occasionally...
-my essays are HELLA BOMB. i wrote two for the common app, havent decided which to submit yet. one makes everyone who reads it cry and the other makes them laugh. (havent done the supplement essay and questions yet but they should be pretty good)

hmm i dont know what else...
