LGBT Housing Option

Does anyone know anything about this, or have any opinions on it?

I'm gay (male), and considering opting for it, but I'm caught up on the fact that an LGBT housing option has the potential to be absolutely MISERABLE.

But then again, being gay and going with regular housing could be bad with the wrong roommate.

Any suggestions?

don’t touch guys who are homophobic and you will be fine

sd is pretty liberal, and i have a gay suitemate and no one really gives him a problem as long as he respects you. though i really do hate it when he touches me in like the ass or something and i repeatedly tell hiim to stop and he never does. be like that, and you’re in for some ass beating.

@FishiePlur I’ll be in the same situation as you if I get accepted. My decision is still pending, but I’m not sure that I will get in because I’m a transfer student missing a prereq. I’m sure they have a LBGT resource center on campus. I’d try calling them and asking for advice.

@iloveSD Just as a clarification, SD is a very conservative place (the most conservative city in CA), but the UCSD student body is very liberal.

Just clearing that up.

*SD is a very conservative place *

The San Diego city council voted to overturn proposition 22. Approval for Prop 8 was 53.7% which is just over the average for California. I wouldn’t call that very conservative. Certainly cities in the central valley would beat out San Diego for most conservative city.

I was more talking about major cities, but SoCal is known as a VERY conservative place (by CA standards). While there are a few (albeit strong) liberal areas in San Diego (Hillcrest, PB), the majority of the city and the areas near the city are more conservative (North County, Coranado, most of the wealthier areas, and ESPECIALLY East county which is unfortunately where I live).

Anyway, long story short, there are a few pockets of very strong liberalism here, but most areas you go to are quite conservative politically and socially. Including, interestingly enough, La Jolla.

The numbers you quoted are accurate yet misleading, as you’ll see when you move here :p
