LGBT Life at Penn

I was wondering if anyone could comment on the quality of life for LGBT students at Penn.

I already know that it's a very accepting place (and the LGBT center looks amazing), and I've looked over the website, but I was looking for personal experiences if possible.

It’s such a hard question to answer. On one hand, we have a well-funded, active LGBT center with loads of activities and resources for new (and returning) students; but on the other hand, Philly just isn’t all that gay-friendly given the high concentration of blue-collar workers and bums in the seedier parts and on SEPTA. Just stick to campus, Center City, and steer clear of the Broad Street Line, and you’re fine =)

I have a friend who’s gay, and he’s really popular and social with everyone, not just with the gay community. He likes it here. I think being gay is very accepted at Penn. I mean there’s even some group called J-Bagel for Jewish people who are gay. I think you would like it here.

Thanks guys! :)

Excellent timing! Check out this article on the front page of today’s Daily Pennsylvanian:
