How is the LGBT life on campus? There is a good chance that I’m applying here ED because I fell in love with the school but I’m worried about it the heavy frat culture (I’m a guy and gay). I’m already well aware of the resources on campus and how supportive faculty is, but I’m worried about the campus climate with students. Could someone maybe elaborate a bit more on this?
I dont know the percentages, but I can visually see that most UR students are open and engaged with their LGBTQ classmates. Alot of the freshmen exploratory coursework is geared towards opening the minds of students who may have bigoted ideas. side note-- my son is in a FRAT and he had plenty of LGBTQ friends growing up. The FRAT boy sterotypes are dont apply to all frat members. FRATS have changes alot since the 90’s. The guys are still preppy but their have evolved mentally.
@nopoto457 Well that’s great to hear! I hate that I even have to think about this when applying to schools, but I just wanted to feel reassured that I would be welcomed. I don’t mind the preppy vibe, more so just the type of people that fit the stereotype (although it obviously doesn’t represent everyone who fits that niche).
Also, I did end up applying ED1 to Richmond anyway.
