LGBT student looking for advice about schools

Well then in addition to NYU (if the UCs are not an option you are interested in), I would maybe suggest Columbia. I don’t really know much about the schools LGBT stance, but it is right in manhattan, so it is bound to have a really diverse population and that urban feel you are aiming for. Of course it is an ivey, so getting in is a crapshoot, but if you did it seems like it would be a good fit for you.

If you’re looking for smaller colleges, Reed might be a good fit. Penn is a bit of a reach, but it has some strong departments, and Philly is very gay-friendly (they actually embrace the term “Gayborhood” in tourist publications, and host one of the world’s largest street festivals). Temple could be a safety for you.
