I just got notified that I've been accepted. (Lloyd Hall Scholars Program) Is it worth joining? (Even though I did sign up for it LOL)

Is Alice Lloyd Hall a good residential place as opposed to regular freshmen dorms?

For people in it, how is it?

Thanks for all replies.

i was wondering the same thing

I personally really like Lloyd Hall. The program itself, I'm not a big fan of, and neither were my friends that were in it. Most of them did it just to not be put into Markley.

With that being said, there's a big range of people in Lloyd. I know people who wander in drunk a lot, and I know there are some really smart, really nice people in there too, like any dorm.

I think their rooms, might? be bigger? It might be just my friends got really lucky, but they had a HUGE room on the 4th floor. So, I personally like it, and others might not. I may not be right by saying/generalizing, but if you like a quiet environment compared to say Markley, or Bursley/Baites, then pick Lloyd. If you like a more active group, Markley/Bursley/Baites is the place to be.

I'm in the same situation, and I had a few more specific questions:

How many people are in the program? It doesn't say anywhere on the website, just that it is "small"...

How often are the group activities that they make a big deal about being mandatory, and when do they occur?

Thanks for the responses.
I'm also curious to theoddchild's questions so bump :D

go to the umich housing website and look at their virtual tour. they say its 40% lhsp, so just take that percentage with the number of residents.

and also, if youve been accepted.. and decide not to join, dont you get kicked out of lloyd hall? i wouldnt recommend that, cause youll end up in the last of the alst wanted dorms..

I believe we'd get a housing contract still...after all, mine was supposedly sent on June 6th, so I assume I'm getting it soon.
