Liberal arts at Cal Poly?

Cal Poly is obviously known for its great engineering program, but what about the liberal arts at Cal Poly? What’s the reputation of the liberal arts program at Cal Poly? Is it dumb to go there for liberal arts??

I hope not… I’m an Anthropology and Geography major. I’ve heard good things about their program even though Cal Poly is really known for Engineering and Agriculture. Your education is what you make of it.

Cal Poly isn’t just limited to its Engineering and Ag reputation. Our Orfalea Business school’s reputation here is just as known or even greater. It is ranked 2nd of all public universities in California and 64th nationally from BusinessWeek. if you don’t know, Cal Poly is more known for its Architecture school’s having higher reputation than engineering. Every 5 practicing Architects in California, 1 is Cal Poly Alum. Practically 100% of all architect firms in San Diego for example have Cal Poly grads. It is ranked 3 (2010) in the country public and private according to DesignIntelligence — the bimonthly journal of the Design Futures Council (DFC), a Washington, D.C.-based. Graphics communication, being one of the top in the nation with direct cooperation with NYU. We got world-class research lab known as the Dow Jones & Company Web Printing Laboratory. That being said, Cal Poly Engineering is just a fraction of the university’s overall reputation.
