Liberal arts college suggestions

Hi,

If you guys could suggest some liberal arts colleges that would be great.
Here are my stats:
32 ACT
3.8 unweighted 3.9 weighted GPA
6 AP Classes
ECs:
Tennis team captain/ #1 singles player
2 business internships
1 fairly presitigious law internship
competitive tennis player with multiple regional level tournament wins
VP of tutoring club
VP of hispanic club
Member politics organization
Member NHS

What I am looking for in a school:
Politically liberal vibe as long as the school isn’t weird ie Vassar was a bit odd to me
Preferably a suburb although I’m ok with rural
Intellectual student body
I’d like to go somewhere where the students still go to parties a few nights a week

Oh I forgot, I’d like to major in either political science or economics

Run the Supermatch tool on the left side of this page. How much can your family afford?

How about Wesleyan U?

As a Latino boy from California you’ll have a great selection of Northeast LACs interested in you. The problem is the travel time to places like Amherst and Wesleyan is 6+ hours, Middlebury and Williams even longer. Your other threads seemed to indicate you were looking on the West Coast, merit awards possible and maybe more for business programs. Is that still the case?

Finances don’t need to be considered

If you want to stay on the West Coast look at Whitman in Washington. In one of your earlier threads someone suggested U Puget Sound which is also a good choice. It isn’t a “traditional” LAC. If you still want a more business oriented academic program look at Claremont McKenna.

For the study of economics, Williams, Hamilton, Middlebury, Colgate, Wesleyan and Claremont McKenna would offer some of the country’s stronger programs:

For schools in a suburban setting, you can read through here:

Do take a look at Whitman, very smart student body but they’re not adverse to having fun. My son thought Vassar was a little weird too, but wanted a small school. He loved his four years at Whitman, he also loved Walla Walla (charming town) and the state of Washington.

I like the west coast, but I’m looking to apply across the country so I have some choices. So far I think I’m applying to wesleyan, Grinnell, Hamilton, Swarthmore, Middlebury, and Bucknell.

I’ll second the suggestion to look at Whitman. It’s a real gem. Also, take a look at the Claremont Colleges (CMC may be the best fit for you with the poly-sci/econ interests). Also, if you are looking at Swat, take a look at Haverford. They are both easy to get to from CA. Also maybe Colgate, although it is harder to get to.

If you are thinking about playing tennis then you definiyely need to reach out to the coach at the schools you are interested in attending.
Some will have a more athletic vibe then others. My sons both swim/swam and majored in Econ at Midd.
Midd does have great athletic facilities as do many in the NESCAC Conference.
Good Luck

I’d look at all the NESCAC schools. Some are more remote than others, all have a lot of social activity, and all are strong academically. For those that interest you, reach out to the coach.

For Tennis also look at Lewis and Clark

@obsessedwcollege, of the colleges on your current list, Bucknell seems to be a bit of a ringer. If you look at a site like niche, it’s notably less liberal and more preppy/frat-centered than the others. Totally fine if that’s what you’re looking for, or if some other factor outweighs those factors, but it doesn’t sound as if it fits with others you’ve mentioned.
