If I apply to JHU, known for its strong math/science fields, would it give me more of an advantage if I mention that I am planning on majoring in a liberal course of study? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Admissions Dan says no to this previously asked question. However one wonders if there is a shortage (doubtful) of appicants in your major whether it could be a minor factor.

I have answered this question a number of times before, but I am having trouble finding my old answers. Use the search and you will probably find a more elaborative answer.

Simple answer is no, you are not at an advantage if you apply to a humanities or social sciences major. Our applicant is quite diverse academically, and it allows us to review each applicant individually, based on their personal academic experiences and interests. We will not lessen our standards to make sure we are admitting "enough" students to a specific program of study. Since we given students to switch their majors at any time, admitting students to specific program is not logical.

Lastly, you should be aware that some of the largest programs at Hopkins are not even in the math/science fields -- international studies is the largest major at Hopkins and second largest major selected by applicants.
