Liberal Arts Person?

I am thinking about applying to some liberal arts schools, but I am not sure if I am a liberal arts person. I want a well rounded education, but I am not sure if the size of a LAC is right for me.

For what reasons would you tell someone not to go to a liberal arts school?

You want pre-professional training, e.g., business. There are some universities where you can be exposed to both - a well-rounded education and pre-professional training.

I’d recommend you visit some LACs, and see how you feel about the experience. Good luck!

You desperately need something very obscure/expensive (Urdu teacher, particle accelerator, cricket team, etc). If there is something specific that you feel you must have as part of your undergraduate education, but is quite far out of the mainstream, most LACs won’t have it. Having said that, investigate each school - you’d be surprised what things turn up even at small schools. Not specific to Pomona, but a friend of mine at Williams was surprised to discover that they have a Korean department. Go figure.

For Pomona specifically, this is somewhat mitigated by the Consortium, but if you have some sort of eccentric interest you should probably investigate any smaller school.
