So I have applied to many liberal arts and national universities for undergraduate...however, I am confused upon who has better medical school acceptance rates...do national universities like Duke offer more than liberal arts colleges like Amherst and Davidson? What about the undergraduate research opportunities? Particularly at Duke is everyone a number...it is not as big as other universities that is why I'm questioning...and for medical school is it ultimately better to get close interaction with professors like the kind liberal arts colleges provide? Thanks!

My d is a freshman at Davidson and is contemplating going pre-med. The school
claims to have an exceptional med school acceptance rate, in the 90%'s.
You can’t go wrong at Davidson. Lots of support beginning first thing
freshman year. Wish I could help with comparisons to bigger schools but she didn’t consider any.

Thank you so much…that helps!

Its ultimately better to go to a university or college that you fit with well and will be happy, comfortable, and given opportunities to excel. LAC vs NU doesn’t really matter in the end, it is very dependent on your own preferences and drive to succeed. I went to the largest university in the country and loved it. I personally couldn’t see myself at a LAC if I did it over again. There are surely pros and cons at both schools, but if you fit at one or another you will likely fit well to minimize the cons and maximize the pros.

so would the best option be a campus tour?

Campus tour, nights stay with a student, intense research online, and as many opinions of the school possible (CC is a good resource for this, at least a little less biased than those on the admissions pages)

First and foremost Attend a school that interests you and that you can excel at!
Also ask specific questions about med school admission rates when you visit and correspond with each school.
