liberal arts vs. research university

I'm having a hard time deciding between a smaller liberal arts school, Pacific Lutheran University, and the University of Washington.
I plan to major in Biology and Chemistry, with a career goal of research science. I think that the UW would be perfect for my career goals, but I don't feel at home on the campus at all. At PLU I feel very comfortable on campus, and I think that it would be easier to get to know people and to be involved in the community because it's smaller. The PLU science department isn't bad, but it isn't the major department at the university.
Is it worth giving up the opportunities at the UW for a smaller campus where I feel more at home?
Any input is greatly appreciated, thank you!

It depends what is more important to you. I would say go to the place where you feel more comfortable. If it’s smaller, there are probably more opportunities and less competitive opportunities for the students in your major. But if “academic value” is more important to you, go to UW.
