Liberal Engineering Schools?

Title basically says it all. Any suggestions? I know this is very broad, but I will take any answers that I get.

Cornell is generally viewed as a very liberal school (although of course with thousands of students, there are viewpoints across the spectrum) and it has a great engineering school.

“Liberal” in what sense?

Olin College of Engineering.

liberal in their political leanings, ucbalumnus

In terms of social or fiscal/economic politics?

Most universities’ students tend to have more socially liberal people than society overall, since younger people tend to be more socially liberal than society overall. But many students are not political at all.

Certain types of industries associated with different engineering majors may attract more liberal or more conservative people.

leaning more towards social politics. which majors have which leanings, in your opinion?

Petroleum engineering may lead to employers who may be more conservative on some aspects of politics (probably environmental). Well maybe social also if you end up working overseas in socially conservative countries.

Computer science and engineering graduates may find that many employers may be rather liberal on some social aspects: http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/how-rare-are-anti-gay-marriage-donations-in-silicon-valley/ .

The most liberal state is Massachusetts and the most liberal engineering schools tend to be associated with liberal arts colleges. So I would suggest:

Smith College
Tufts University
Olin College of Engineering
