Hello, I know NYU is a very prestigious school but multiple sources have told me that the Liberal Studies program is much easier to get into than most of the other schools. For anyone in this program or who goes to NYU and knows about this program, can you talk about how much easier it is and possibly the average GPA of students who get accepted into the program. Any information about the program will truly help. I’m applying to NYU ED2 and the Liberal Core program is the school I think I will get into. Thank you!
LSP does have a history of accepting students with lower stats and some applicants consider it a “backdoor to NYU.” However, it is worth noting that even if it’s easier than other programs at NYU, it’s still NYU. NYU’s average accepted GPA is a 95, but this is really different depending on the major. Stern, for example, rarely accepts people with a below-3.8 GPA. CAS seems to be in the 3.75+ range. Steinhardt and Gallatin, probably 3.7+. Tisch doesn’t really care about GPA as long (being an art school) as you’re not a terrible, terrible student; people have gotten in with 3.2s.Tandon is a bit unpredictable; mostly 3.6-7 and above though. Everything else (silver, GLS, LSP, etc) are thought by most to be around the 3.5-6+ range. Keep in mind that NYU doesn’t release specific acceptance data for undergrad schools so this is just a generally accepted average based on accepted students’ stats on websites such as cc. LSP is mostly for applicants who have a high GPA but lower test scores, or lower GPA but high test scores. Usually accepted students have at least a 3.4.
