Hi guys! My FA message recently changed from the "no financial aid information found" to "2014 - New York University - Award Access Not Available," (which I know many people believe to be a sign of acceptance, fingers crossed!) and when I select my application status, my program changed to "Liberal Studies." I originally applied as a Psychology major in the CAS, and I was wondering what this switch to "Liberal Studies" means. If anyone has any info on what Liberal Studies is, it would be great if you could comment :)

Good luck to everyone who applied!

Does anyone know how often people accepted into the Liberal Studies program get their first choice location?

I’m in the same boat with you, I applied to Gallatin and my program is now LSP.

Can everyone who had their “Program” change to “Liberal Studies Core Program” please post their GPA and SAT or ACT? My D has high stats and really good essays, and I’m really surprised her program changed. She know lots of kids at both regular NYU and in the Liberal Studies program, and her stats are higher than her regular NYU friends, and much, much higher than her Liberal Studies friends. Thanks!

3.96 GPA. 30 Composite ACT. (32 English and 35 reading). Essays discussed my dream of working in comedy and the importance of my hometown to me.

3.9 unweighted, 4.6 weighted, 2080 SAT (670 CR, 670 M, 740 W), 5 AP Classes.
My main large essay discussed the scar I have from my open heart surgery. The supplement essays discussed my love for NYC I’ve had my entire life (I live very close to the city), and my dream of working as a music therapist.

I applied directly to the Liberal Studies Program, thinking that it was a special/unique program for students interested in, well… liberal studies. I guess I was wrong, haha. But my Financial Award information changed, so that’s a good sign.

3.75 GPA (although submitted my weighted 4.04), 29 ACT (30 superscored), IB diploma student, my personal statement was very unique, it was about how I was a cat in a past life living in ancient egypt and how that has influenced me with my love for history. Haha, it was well written though, and my supplemental essays were about my love for the various programs within NYU and my love for the culture/learning environment that this school would bring to me.

Also @xomom11 I don’t think it’s fair to say that “regular NYU” is different from LSP since it’s just another part of the university.

Does anyone have any idea when we will be receiving our decision? Last year, most people in LSP heard a couple weeks before April 1. I hope we hear soon-especially since its a Friday

I just went back and checked my application and supplement for nyu on commonapp and I didn’t fill out any of the things for Liberal Studies. It said that if you weren’t interested in LSP you could just skip over the question, and that’s exactly what I did. However, my program on Albert changed to Liberal Studies Core Program so I’m a little confused. Could they put me into LSP even if I didn’t say I wanted to be considered for it?

We called admissions this morning, but all the counselors are in meetings today, so they said to call back on Monday. Others on here should call today as well and see what you can find out.

@NatChat123, I did the exact same thing, so I assume that yes they can put you into it, just in case you decide that you still want to go to NYU, even under a different program.
