Hi,
I’m currently at a NC community college doing some gen eds. . I’ll be studying towards an AA in Music in Fall 2016. After thst, I’m going to go either to App State, Liberty, or East Carolina. My instrument is Percussion.
Has anyone on this form had ANY experiences with LU on campus? My pastors daughter went there and said thst they kind of out on a show and thst a lot of the students and faculty are hypocritical. Keep in mind, she isn’t a staunch liberal and neither is the church I attend. My church is the type where drinking is a no no, sex after marriag belief etc.
Is it better to go to a private school than LU? My major would be music.
It seems they are about $$$$$$( look at thei HUGE music building they just built!) and numbers. Some of the Prof’s seem ver uninterested in answering any questions I have as a prospective student. The percussion prof even just plain hung up on my once he heard my voice…talk about rude…and, he’d always say can we talk later and then never call back.
If anyone has any pros and cons about this school…please feel free to chime in. I don’t want to waste $$$$$$
Wouldn’t a NC state school be cheaper? We live in VA so I’ve had the opportunity to live near as well as work with a couple of it’s graduates. I would not borrow any money to attend the school if there are other options. I would expect that a music major should keep education costs as low as possible so you can be flexible with your first job out of school.
What are your career aspirations? Do you want a career in church music or will you be a teacher?
What is it about your voice that a professor would hang up on you? I would think an in person visit would be far more productive than trying to interview teachers over the phone. NC is not far from VA after all.
My aspiration is to be a Music Therapist. ECU and App State do those programs in NC. The thing thst attracts me to LU is its supposed Christian basis…but, from what I’ve heard, it’s VERY hypocritical once you get there.
I’ve heard both negative and positive reviews of the school, even going so far as talking to former students. Some tell me it’s not as Christian as it markets itself to be and that the honor code is down right ridiculous
Are you looking specifically for a conservative Southern Baptist school?
I grew up southern baptist so I wouldn’t have a problem with it. My church is u,tea conservative. So,mlibertys strictness wouldn’t be a big deal, I’d i knew what exactly students have to abide by honor code wise? And I hope LU does t have a faculty full of hypocrites…that’s something I could care less about with a secular school, but one that says they are 100% Christian and secular free needs to practice what they preach in order to get me to go there
I am interested in this thread. Our senior daughter has several Christian colleges on her list. Liberty wasn’t one of them, but their full ride for NMF got it on the radar. She is interested in an honors program so these stats from their Fall 2015 program caught our attention:

Obviously not comparable to elite schools but pretty solid for a Christian school. We’ll be taking a trip there this fall to look into further.
My husband graduated from Liberty University and our son is planning on going there in the fall of 2016. We have visited several times. We are in love with Liberty.
