Liberty University

I’m from Virginia originally, not far from Lynchburg. I think Liberty’s reputation has improved, although it still has a hyper-religious reputation, and in some circles its position on evolution in particular is problematic. It used to have a really terrible reputation, but it has taken steps to change that. The fact that it’s no longer so closely identified with its founder has helped.

Getting too liberal for some.

And now people are experts on their online classes. Please. Every other school is rushing in to duplicate what they have established.

That’s an interesting article, barrons. I thought it was telling that the main critic they quote is from a much more obscure (and unaccredited) Christian college. It sounds like Liberty is getting a more diverse student body than it was back when it was LBC.

Also many other changes are quietly underway and note there are active political clubs. I think that is very true Hunt. JFjr is not his father in any way but he wants to carry out the core of his dream which was to get LU to the level of a BYU or ND as the major Christian U.

Good slightly dated overview with focus on changes at LU–it is the new LU really.

As long as Liberty continues to teach pseudoscience and dress up fakirs with phoney lab coats…well…what’s the term you like to use Barrons? Lipstick on a pig??

You don’t get science credit for those classes nor do they count as such. The first creation course is the only required course for all majors. The second is an option if the student is interested.

If your degree plan is bio, nursing or anything related you have to take evolution. This is a requirement for LU’s accreditation or any schools for that matter.

Since LU is a private Christian school they can and do require certain religious courses. This is nothing unusual Baylor University does it too. I’m sure others do but it’s late here and I don’t feel like looking it up.

I dont think one religion based class at a religious school is a big issue in reality. The Left has their fun with it. Meanwhile LU continues to improve and grow.

Just to clarify: Baylor does NOT require its students to study creationism. My husband’s undergrad degree is from Baylor, where he majored in biology. Baylor teaches legitimate science. It does not teach fake science.
