Life After Tisch MT

NYU Tisch is one of my top choices for BFA MT programs next year. I auditioned in Atlanta and got pretty great feedback from the auditors, so I’m hoping that will translate into even better feedback in April. However, I know NYU is notorious for its lack of financial aid, and even then many people take out large loans to attend.

I’m sure the Tisch program provides unparalleled networking opportunities and of course a desirable location, but just out of curiosity, any experience or knowledge as to common jobs that Tisch Drama students get right out of college or statistics as to how many are employed in the industry soon after graduation? I would love for it to be a financially realistic option, and obviously it’s a risky business, but I’d still like to weigh the benefits.

Any experience or advice as far as paying for Tisch?

I know I’m not really answering your question, but I’d like to give you a little advice.
My daughter is at Tisch and she loves it and I agree with you, that the connections there are probably unparalleled.
BUT… My daughter is very lucky that her parents (me) are capable of paying her tuition. Which by the way is probably the highest tuition of any college in the US. Tisch costs more than NYU!
As much as I am a huge fan of the school, I would not recommend someone who is a MT major, come out with hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. I think that would be a mistake.

Thanks for the advice!

That’s what I’m thinking, too. As a MT major, I don’t want to graduate 100K in debt, but I’m trying to decide what an acceptable limit of loans might be with the typical prospects of graduating from Tisch.
