can anyone talk about grad school acceptance rates from whitman/where they have gone on to get jobs? i love the school but am concerned about it's relative anonymity outside of the northwest. has anyone found it hard to get a job on the east coast?

According to Wikipedia, 50% or so of us go on to grad school within 5 years. My personal experience says that number is a little low. Whitman prepares you for grad school, so that's where we go, eventually. Elsewise, the workforce, or to an exciting life as a housewife. Just like any other good liberal arts school.

And honestly, most grads I know have stayed on the West Coast if they didn't go to grad school. Once you have a graduate degree, it doesn't really matter much where you went to undergrad. Since most of us are from the WC, a lot of us don't leave. In the end, whether or not your prospective boss knows the name of the college you went to is almost never the deciding factor in whether or not you get a job.
