I recently got accepted as a CS major at UIUC and this school is currently one of my top choices. I know that engineering majors at UIUC (well anywhere really), have very stressful lives, as they have to balance labs and difficult problem sets. How do CS majors fare, and how much free time do CS majors get every week? Also, how prevalent is weeding out at UIUC? So far, UIUC doesn't seem to me to have as heavily of a "weed-out" reputation as does Georgia Tech, which is my other top choice right now. And would you say that the relationship amongst CS majors here is more competitive or cooperative? Thanks to all!

My friend is graduating as a double major this year. I know he is majoring in CS, too! He had all of his gen eds requirements done prior to entering as a freshman but he said he studies M-F and he’s not much the type to go out ALL the time. He always goes to bars Thursday and Fridays though!! Sorry, all I can tell yah:)

Thanks for the response! Any more insights, anyone?

If you like computer science(which you must) you’ll have a blast!
Sure, it’s a decent amount of work, but the fact that you’re passionate about it will make the work easier. I personally don’t have trouble managing my time working and having fun, but some people DO study all day every day.
