Life at brown

What kind of atmosphere does Brown U have?
I’ve applied and waiting, but I wanted to see what kind of school brown really is.
I like a school that is very free, but not too free and has a decent city life around it also.
Please help.

I could give you my opinion, but that’s only one. Why don’t you use the search function and search “Life at Brown” and I bet you’ll find some great old threads from here.

Aren’t the old threads just a summation of other people’s singular opinions?

Let’s encourage people to share and communicate, too. The search facility is a great tool, but real, currents opinions are important.

There aren’t really any new users on here who are actually students over the last couple of years. Bumping an old thread is not only more useful for other people with the same question, but more likely to bring out a few newer users.

Every single post on here is just the summation of other people’s singular opinions, new or old isn’t going to change that. The fact that there are many threads on this in the past should help because I’m sure there are at least 10-15 different posters who have discussed this at length.

In any case, if the OP wants somewhere that is ‘not too free’, Brown’s probably not the right place for him/her.

Providence is no great shakes, as well.

I disagree wholeheartedly, but that’s also been discussed ad naseum on here.

I don’t understand why people apply to schools before they know anything about them (besides perhaps what Princeton review has to say).

If you are legitimately asking the question “what kind of school is Brown?”/“what kind of city is Providence?” one week before you get your admission decision, then I can’t help but feel pity on you man.
