Life at CSULB

I'm currently a high school student and future undergraduate. I was thinking of applying to CSULB but since I live outside the states I don't really have a chance to visit the University. So I was wondering could anyone give me information about this Uni? Like the life in CSULB and outside. Is it close to LA? Is it diverse enough for a international student? What are the advantages and disadvantages of attending CSULB? Please say anything about the Uni! Spill the stuff! Thank you!

CSU LB is pretty diverse and is in the LA Basin which all runs together in a vast expanse of urban/suburban sprawl. The campus is well maintained and very pretty. http://www.csulb.edu/divisions/students/uosr/VirtualTour/</a>
These virtual tours will give you a feel for the place. It is a very good school and somewhat selective. It would not be my first choice among the CSUs - SDSU and CP SLO are more selective and more residential, meaning most students live in student housing on or near campus. CSUs are really expensive for international students, there are private options you might also consider (LMU and USD) as well.

What about the social life there? How is it?

@NCalRent‌ What about the social life there? How is it?

There are 30k+ students so, i am sure there’s a social scene. There are D1 sports, clubs, fraternities and many other student orgs. There is plenty of stuff to do - but you have to go find it. The campus is really spread out and most student commute so, it feels kinda dead, especially on weekends and when school isn’t in session. UCD is similarly sized and has a much more active campus day to day (because so many students live on or very near campus and there’s less competition for their attention).

Like I said above, CSULB is a fine school but, it would not be my first choice. If you can get into SDSU or UCSB, I think you’ll have a better experience. Check out Sonoma and Chico in N Cal. Both are much more residential.

Good luck

there is no social life. it is a commuter school. see other posts about transfering from csulb. most say reason is because no social life. it is near LA but takes like 2 hours to get there if u dont have a car and bus service is bad.
