Life at Georgetown

how is it?

social: relationships vs hookups?
how big is greek life?
are ppl in dorms tight w/ each other?

academic: are ppl really cut-throat competitive here?

well i can answer at least one thing: gtown doesn’t have greek life

mostly hookups
no greek life
very tight with your floor, esp. if you live in Darnall.

Eh both. It really depends what group you hang out with.

No Greek Life. Jesuits don’t like frats. On the other hand, this means that a lot of clubs and organization take on fraternity-like qualities - host their own exclusive parties, in some cases (e.g., Chimes) own their own houses.

Freshman dorms tend to be quite tight. It’s likely that a lot of your best friends will be people that live on your hall freshman year. Now, later on, not so much. In upperclass dorms you might never meet your neighbors.

Social: Hookups. People very rarely date here.

Technically, we aren’t supposed to have a greek life, but there is one. It’s just weak.

My best friends are all from my freshman dorm. Unless things go horribly wrong, you will definitely gain a wonderful sense of camaraderie from them, and great memories.

Academic: No. In other words, we are the complete opposite of Johns Hopkins.
