Life at IUB

Yeah, I checked out the website and it seems pretty easy to get into. So, do you really get smaller better classes? Anyone know about the business honors program?

direct admit doesn't do much. u can do honors classes, and there's also direct admit sections of some classes (namely x104). u also get a free t-shirt.

as far as business honors goes - u can apply if u have a 3.5, they also want some sort of leadership. if u get in, u do 12hours honors sophomore, honors iCore, and a big paper senior year. u also have to keep a 3.5 to graduate w/honors.

Well, since this thread is about life at IUB, I am from out of state and Indiana is an amazing school, but I want to make sure that I am going to like the enviroment I am in as well. The basic question is...is Bloomington that great of a town? Also, football tickets, what is the policy on that?

Thanks!!

Football tickets - there is a form on the athletic website that you can fill out and turn in. Alternatively, at Orientation, you can just check off a box and they will charge it to your bill. Seating is general admission, but you don't need to show up early to get good seats. I showed up at gametime for the UConn game last week and got seats 2nd row. Support for the football team is not strong, however, it's growing. Coach Hep is very supportive, likeable, and truly believes this team has a chance to do well. I don't know if that's the brain surgery speaking though, because this team is awful.

Bloomington is nice. It's small, but it's catered around the students. You have bars, you have parties (house + frats), there's enough to do. It's not like you'll be in the middle of nowhere where going to gas stations and walmart and going to movies are the thing to do. It's relatively urban, lots of chain restaurants and bar + grills downtown. Not too big of a town though, but very safe.

What about internships then? I assume there are no big corporations in bloomington, or Indiana for that matter, so does everyone intern in Chicago, NY,and LA for the summer? can you earn credit for fall internships? thanks

Football games are fun. Ironically more people tailgate then ever go to the game. Coach hep is cool.

I LOVE football games. I got in the paper because I was one of the few who stayed for the 4th quarter of the Wisconsin game (It was 52-0 after the 3rd quarter). If our team would take care of business against crappy opponents, we would be bowling this year. lol, "we're going bowling"! inside joke.

We should be 5-1 (Uconn and SIU we should have beat), and we can still win a few games on our schedule, most notably MSU on homecoming. Minnesota and Purdue are possible, we're undefeated on the road. Also we just got a big proposal passed for stadium renovations, making it bigger and nicer. Student section is fun, I always sit up front with the drunkies.

Too bad basketball doesn't have a student section...

Bloomington and the area aruond is great if you liek outdoorsy things. THere is about 4 or 5 state parks in about a 1/2 hours distance. I recommend McCormicks' Creek.

I know Crane, Lilly, and Boston scientific are all in the are or at least they were when I lived there. Kinda sucks I don't anymore b/c now I ahve to pay out of state but hey kinda have to go where the family moves.
