How is life at Lehigh other than the fact that it is a party school? Are there concerts, events, comedy shows - things like that that bring people together?

I would not consider Lehigh a party school, any more than any other college. Particularly for engineering majors - there is a ton of work!

I know that there are things going on, but I dont think there are major concerts or comedy shows due to the size of the school, but one of the students could probably answer more accurately.

I can’t comment on on-campus activities, but the Allentown-Lehigh Valley metro area (of which Bethlehem is part of) is close to a million people and now has an almost over abundance of entertainment with nightly concerts down the street at the Sands Casino and Steelstacks, national acts at the State Theater at Easton and Symphony Hall and Croc Rock in downtown Allentown plus the new major arena being built there. You won’t be bored! Plus I know there are normal college concerts. plays etc on campus.

There is a lot of stuff going on through the Office of Student Activities- Late Night Lehigh, movies, casino nights, athletic event watch parties, etc. A lot of it goes on at Lamberton Hall. It’s great because you can make a spur of the moment decision to go, and a lot of it is free. They also have occasional trips to NYC and Philly for plays and sporting events.

Lehigh certainly IS NOT a party school, jigarpatel1995, so don’t think that way. Yes, there are a very small amount of bad apples who slip through the cracks and stir up trouble, but life here centers on academia and extracurricular involvement more than anything else.

We regularly have great free events like comedy shows (some that actually star good headliners), Late Night Lehigh events, athletics, Make-and-Take (free arts and crafts), and numerous free events run by Lehigh’s clubs and organizations. Trips out of town to Philly, NY, and theme parks like Dorney and Hershey will cost you, but not as much as you’d think.

There’s always something to do - when you’re not swamped with work.

Best,

Im sure LehighChemE knows much more than I do about the party scene on campus, but after visitng 3+ times and doing my overnight here’s what I take from the campus-- Lehigh can be a party school if you are looking for it. If you want to party, by all means you will able to party and drink and do your thing… If you don’t want to party, that’s okay too.

That’s a fair conclusion, retrodreamer11.

Drinking is there if you really want it, but it’s not there if you don’t. It’s never in-your-face to the point where you feel compelled to engage in it. I’ve never felt left out by not wanting to bother with the drinking scene.

But I want to warn everyone that for the students who look at Lehigh only because it is mistakenly known as a “party school”, those students will most likely perform very poorly academically, drop out, or get kicked out.

Best,
