Hello! I plan to enroll in The Middlesex School as a sophomore in the 2015-2016 school year. I live in Kansas City, Missouri. I got accepted into The Pembroke Hill school, the finest school in KC for the 2014-2015 school year, but my stepdad and mom are building a home in Dallas, Texas, and we will move probably late in the summer, so I will not be attending Pembroke. I found out about this too late to apply to Middlesex. Since the admission deadline has passed, I must attend in my sophomore year(rather than my freshman) and attend a regular school in Dallas for one year. I am originally from New Orleans, so I speak some French as well. I just wanted to know more about the life outside of school, dorms, food, activities, etc., as the site does not have much information about these. Also, if there are any freshman enrolling this year, I will probably be sharing some classes with you in the 2015-2016 school year. I am pretty confident about being accepted as I have a perfect GPA, am ceo of a fairly large corporation, am very extroverted and love talking to people, have created many patented inventions, etc. I don't mean to brag, just throwing that in there for anyone who is wondering why I am saying that I will enroll without having applied as of yet. Aside from that, thank you for reading, and if you have attended or will attend Middlesex, please either help by answering my questions or introducing yourself! :)

Best wishes, hackery21

With a 19% acceptance rate and considering you’ll be applying for 1 of 12 spots of your gender for 10th grade, I would suggest you dial down the cockiness.

Visit the school and you can have your questions answered firsthand.

Yes, I do apologize for that, I just wished to clarify that I am not all bull, again, I apologize. Anyways, I would love to visit the school, but I already have a vacation booked on June 2, two days after my school ends, to go visit my father and cousins in Eurasia. I will not have any time this summer. I probably will not be able to go any other time either, as my mom and stepdad will probably not be willing to take me that far without much reason. I will probably see it firsthand right before enrolling and when moving in. Thanks for your help…

Apologizing for cockiness and coming back with more…

You do realize that schools like these reject any kind of person, right? I mean, Andover explicitly said on its website that a person who built a power plant in their basement as a hobby got rejected, don’t talk about admission as a given.

Okay. I just wanted to know, I know that I may or may not get in, but I still wanted to know more… :(

I bet someone could chime in and answer your question, but please don’t start your post saying you are confident you’ll get in.

Please don’t assume you will get in automatically. There are many people out there with a reject from MX.

Guys, I have already aknowledged that I may or may not get in, please read the other comments.

ok, I’ll bite (facepalm) – beyond the fact that you indeed “plan to enroll” having not applied – pls be more specific about your questions. Generic questions about “life outside of school” makes me wonder if you real, sincere…or oblivious.

@joma1999 I have a question–what does the daily schedule look like? Chapel? Classes? Free blocks? Sports? Clubs? Meals? Thanks!

@joma1999 Yes, pretty much what stargirl3 asked, and also the dorm layout. Like what’s inside the dorm, size, etc. Also, @stargirl3, sports and clubs are all listed at the Middlesex website :).

I meant what time they take place.

@hackery21, is this why you won’t visit the campus? Because they have pictures on their website? sarcasm

@needtoboard I would seriously love to visit the campus. I probably won’t get the chance though, at least until
I actually get accepted.

I would again like to apologize to anyone who I may have showed rudeness, I may have made a few mistakes in what I said, didn’t mean to come off as a kid with a huge ego problem, I just kind of wanted answers from the perspective that I already have gotten accepted. I realize that there is a significant chance I may not get accepted, and there are other schools out there that I could also go to (Berkshire, Andover, and Greenhill are at the top of my list next to Middlesex). I hope we can get past the misunderstandings and still hold a constructive conversation.

So what other schools are you applying to?

@needtoboard Well, As I have already mentioned this year I only applied to Pembroke, got in, and planned to originally go. The faculty there sent me an email saying that if our plans change, a spot may still be available. As for next year, Greenhill (Which is in Dallas), Berkshire, and Andover. I would apply to Exeter, but I do not wish to relocate to New Hampshire.

On what basis are you choosing schools? NH isn’t really that different than MA. I live near both, and the biggest difference is the lack of sales tax in the former. The weather isn’t any worse. Andover is a half hour drive, give or take, from Exeter. What makes that area of MA different than the same area of NH?

Exeter is literally 45 minutes away from Boston.

@stargirl3 I intend to move to Boston for college and I would like to get used to the area. I also like cold weather, which is slightly more prevalent in MA, though that doesn’t matter much. I just love Boston/Massachusetts. New Hampshire also won’t qualify me for discounts offered to local colleges in MA for in-state students. Colleges such as MIT and Harvard, where I wish to go in the future. Same for @needtoboard. Also, I didn’t exactly know that, haha.
