Life at Penn State

I haven't visited Penn State yet so I know I have to take what I hear with a grain of salt. A lot of my friends have visited the school and have said while it is a very pretty school with a lot of kids, all there is to do downtown is to go drinking (bars). Pretty much Penn State is alcohol and football.

Penn State has everything I want to study, but if my social life there will be bland and repetitive, I don't know if I want to go.

Can anyone comment on the nightclubs, or shopping at Penn State? I really hope there isn't just and American Eagle there and that's what students call shopping.

If there is anything anyone can add, feel free to

My sister goes to Penn State and I’ll be attending in the fall. I know there are buses you can easily take to a mall, movie theater, and similar places. She isn’t interested in drinking and she always has something to do with all the clubs offered at the school. She keeps very busy and although Penn State is known as a drinking school, it is definitely possible to find things to do not involving alcohol/football.

There are many things to do if you have interests other than alcohol and football (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/penn-state-university-park/289619-some-things-do-psu-non-party-animal-those-tired-being-one.html?highlight=cereality</a>) but, if shopping is your priority, go elsewhere.
