All I can say is cinnamon rolls at South on Thursdays and Marco omelets and Marco burgers at South on Sundays.

And for lunch, West’s pizza.

You can pay extra to get HD or extra programming. Provider is Phonoscope.

I haven’t tried West’s pizza, South has pizza and sandwiches that are just too good for me to venture out yet. I’ll get there eventually. haha

West has a pizza oven (gas fired with a stone base), as opposed to a standard conveyor oven that they have in South. The pizza is thus of different types, the former being thin crust while the latter being more thick and more cheesy.

Does a student need a bicycle at Rice University?

It might be helpful to have but you don’t need one. I would say the farthest walk you’ll ever have to make around campus is maybe 10-15 minutes, but a lot of people seem to enjoy having a bike to get around quicker. Your call entirely.

Thank you very much.

I would recommend having one, especially if you have a lot going on. Between classes, meeting people, work, food etc. i was going back and forth all the time.

In a nutshell, not needed but highly recommended

I have a bike, and I’m glad I do. It’s by no means necessary, but the time it saves adds up (and it’s wonderful for those of us who have a hard time dragging ourselves out of bed in the morning).

It’s also especially useful if you need to go run an errand in the village.

I know this was answered on the first page, but I must point out that it’s possible to have a single as a freshman if you’re awesome like me. It’s not likely, though.

Can you rent a bike for a semester/year?

Just buy a used one off craigslist. It will cost you much more to rent a bike.

I asked in the main Rice forum but I think I’m more likely to get a response here. Do grades at Rice reflect effort? I know at some schools that’s an issue because of an intense curve or something like that.
