Life at Tech

Is Texas Tech a boring or fun university? I mean not that I care about the parties or anything I want to know about the general Lubbock area. Plus how was your experience at Tech as a freshman? Are the dorms for freshmen small? If I'm looking for a hall that's quiet and dorms are big which hall should I look at?

Meaning I want a quite hall that doesn’t have small dorms

I’m going to Tech this fall and am in one of the fixed furniture dorms. It’s SMALL! When I toured I thought the movable furniture dorms were a lot bigger but I chose my dorm by location on campus.

If you are going this fall and haven’t signed up for housing yet, there is less to choose from. Here’s the link of available rooms - https://my.housing.ttu.edu/eraider/availability/index.asp

I have some friends at Tech right now who love it.

It’s a lot of fun, but you have to seek out the fun. The Tech Activities board hosts a lot of free events on and off campus that you can go to, and there are the typical things you can do such as going out to eat, going to the movies, etc. There are also tons of parties if you know the right people. I’ve found that most people spend there time at parties and bars/clubs like Wild West or Karma. However, no matter what you do you are around your friends and have fun. Even if you don’t like partying, you can seek out some cool things to do like go go-carting, go to adrenaline city, etc.
