To me, whether or not alcohol is a main focus in social activities at WashU is very important, since I do not drink. My purpose was not to knock anybody who does partake in alcoholic beverages, but rather to see if I would be happy in the WashU. evironment. Contrary to popular belief, alcohol is not necessary to have a good time so please try to be a little less cliche, as this stereotype will never do to satisfy the variety of the personalites of people who dont drink. I did not mean to offend anyone; however, it is not necessary to try to make others feel bad because they prefer to keep their livers intact. Also, do us all a favor and keep your sarcasm to yourself, as it is only funny when making a witty statement, which whoever is posting those snide comments, seems incapable of.

There's [more than likely] gonna be drinking anywhere there are college students. But clearly there's plenty of people that won't be ingesting barrel-fulls of booze every night, and plenty that won't even touch the stuff. So I'm thinking it's all good.

I don't drink, and I'm not planning to at college, but from what I've heard from Wash U students it's not a huge problem. This post made me feel a little better because there are plenty of people posting who are in the same boat. oh, and even though I disagree with that one guy, the phrase "nerd herd" did make me giggle.

my sister just graduated from washU, and (haha, as far as I know, i suppose...) she didn't drink til she turned 21, which was right before her senior year...her friends I met were a blend of drinkers and non-drinkers, and there was never any conflict or issues about it. I'm going this year, I choose not to drink (at least right now), and I don't see any issue with washU from this perspective
