Students were absolutely amazing. Everybody was very excited to talk about their subject or club. That passion was very neat to see.
Absolutely beautiful campus.
Parties: Awesome
Faculty: Head of department for Chem E was very dry, probably only bad part of the day
I don’t like that Lehigh seems so focused on their diversity problem. It is actually quite disrespectful to target minorities and the reality is that the school attracts wealthy white students. It is a beautiful campus though.
The thing that stands out to me is the flexibility of the curriculum and interdisciplinary options. I think mountaintop is unique, although I have no idea what I would do there yet!
Just back from Lehigh Life Day visit yesterday. My son and I were very impressed.
Students- positive, well spoken, upbeat
Campus- just beautiful, gorgeous day, clean
Food- ate at Rathbone great salad bar
Faculty- talked with several Professors at Dessert reception- friendly, smart, great resources
Academics- engineering well respected
Dorms- smaller size fro freshman
Parties, social life-don’t know, kids we spoke with seem very happy
Surrounding area- parts of South Bethlehem a bit sketchy, North Bethlehem super cute more upscale
Overall looks like a great school academically and from what I observed students seem really happy.

I feel like it is good that they are addressing the diversity issue and making progress. I am white, and the session we attended was so white that I honestly felt uncomfortable. Apparently that happened because the diversity weekend students were in a separate group.
I want my kids to have the opportunity to know all kinds of students, not only rich white ones. I think it presents an opportunity for all of them to learn from one another.
@Much2learn Interesting that they put all the white kids together separate from the minorities. That doesn’t sound like a good way to learn from one another.
@lovetulips This is a common problem for Universities at these admitted student sessions. They want to invite them to a special minority program to make minority students feel more comfortable, but then, obviously, they can’t be in two places at once, and are separate from the white kids.
They don’t do this normally, just for this admitted student event. It also may make it more comfortable for minority students to ask questions that they might be less comfortable asking in the larger group.
