Looking for schedule-filler classes that are intellectually stimulating, GPA boosters or not. I'll start with mine, though not all of these are offered in the fall. These were "life-changing" to me because of the professor, interesting lecture material, impact on major/minor declarations, or some combination of those.

EPS 20 with Prof Allen (Earthquakes)
L & S 40C with Prof Moran (History of Hollywood)
Anthro 171 with Prof Konishi (Society of Japan)
Span 25 with Alan Jose (Hispanic Literature)
Espm 110 with Prof Milton (Primate Ecology)

Those are pretty eclectic collectively, aren’t they! ;)

But I’ll add Astro C10 with Alex Filippenko – can’t get more mind altering than that!

IAS 115. Changes your life

Philosophy 6 Changed my life in the sense that I no longer wanted to be a philosophy major

I second Astro C10

Also first experiences with weeder classes can be life changing.

Slavic 39E
It made me more interested in sci fi!

I second ESPM 110. If you’re into biology/ecology or biological anthropology at all, it’s a fascinating and rather in-depth class yet not necessarily difficult. No pre-reqs required for this upper div either.

ED100 with Ananya Roy, although I think Spring 2010 was her last semester teaching the course.

I also found the Geography upper division “special topics” courses to be very interesting as they are a bit more like seminars.
