Life for an Out-of-stater

I was wondering, is life at U of I harder for an out-of-stater? I mean, is it relatively easy to make friends even though I prolly won't know anyone when I arrive? If I'm accepted (and decide to attend) I plan to get involved w/ stuff like clubs and i can be pretty outgoing...but will it be hard to find my niche?

This is more of a personal question. As in, it depends of your personality.

i did fine from CA... i was pretty involved though, with rotc, clubs, and a fraternity.

My sister went to the high school that supplies the most kids to U of I in the state/country and now in her senior year she is still "good" friends with maybe one of those kids. I think you'll be fine.

It is a huge place. I am sure you can find groups to fit into, if you try.

Hey,

I am an international student and did not know anyone before I came here. Don't worry about making friends....you will get to know many people. Especially from your dorm. And just don't hesitate to talk to anyone. Everyone is really friendly.

i wouldnt say everyone is friendly, just a majority
