Life in West Quad?

Can any one tell me what it's like at West Quadrangle? I was assigned a Triple. How is the Food at the dining hall? And do laundry machines in colleges really ruin your clothes?

no, they don't ruin your clothes. West Quad is pretty cool and i know a lot of awesome people there. There are some shady areas where people smoke lots of dope, but most people really like it.

horray im in west quad triple as well.

Another west quad triple here

"it's not south squad"

Who said anything about south squad?

Any info you need, feel free to ask me. I was a tripler last year in West Quad. And uh, prepare for some close living quarters.

that's not true of all west quad triples. My best friends are rooming in a west quad triple that's absolutely huge. They vary depending on the location.

Nice, so SocSkuBlue could you...

Thanks again for the advice.

the cafeteria is terrible, but its across the street from south quad, which has reasonably good food

What? I thought all cafeterias have the same quality of food.

Depends on what day it is and what they are serving. And also what you grow to like. You can personalize your own food in West Quad a lot, but less so in South Quad. Also, West Quad doesn't serve dinner on Sundays, but eating in South Quad that night is an experience akin to cattle herding. So go off campus or get pizza.

Sorry, didn't see your first post Az.

Well, sort of depends on what room you get. Some people will get real triples, as in, rooms that have two rooms, if that makes any sense. However, in my experience, those types go to upperclassmen. Now, if you get placed in an economy triple (which I don't think they say on the actual housing sheet, correct me if I'm wrong), it is small. But eventually, you'll get used to it. Having roommates you like helps, but it seems that everyone just gets used to the size and sort of adapts.

Tough to say, really depends on your hallway. Mine was great and ended up being really memorable. You could have a hallway with mostly upperclassmen and that could be bad, or good, really again depends on the people. You might, actually probably will, have some athletes, but it's alright if they are cool. The people will really make the experience, if that doesn't sound too cliche. But overall, I'd say it's more mature than a lot of the other dorms, and you get a nice mix of people. You might have a harder time making friends than if you were in, say, Markley (the freshman zoo). But it's what you make of it and how social you are.

List some Pros and Cons

Pros: Great location, Decent food (East Quad is much worse and people who say North Campus has better food are exaggerating), Union access/food (careful not to spend $300 in the first few weeks on entree plus), good atmosphere.

Cons: Too many upperclassmen, fairly old structure, dorm is less centralized than others (so if you're lazy, it's kind of a walk to get from side to side, but not really, that's just if you want to be really lazy), athletes can be all ego and no personality (really depends on who you meet, I only met great guys, sooo..).

And let's not forget the snowball. Beat South Quad again, and that's a definite pro.

Hmm, survival...Well, I'll leave that one blank. Only way to learn in life is to make mistakes, and well, I made plenty, so...

got south quad baby.. but got a triple, so i don't know what to expect..
