Life of Pi?

hi, i just got this book. Have any of you ever read it? I only read a bit but i like it so far. It also has a few big SAT words. Might not be the best for the SAT, but sure is delightful.

I have to read that book over the summer for my AP Eng Lit. class. I hope it's good.

Great Gatsby has lots of SAT words. Good book too.

I wrote my essay on the AP Lit test about Life of Pi. It's really entertaining. A lot to think about at the end too.

I started reading it, and after 50 or so pages I just couldn't read it anymore. I found it really boring and didn't like the style of writing at all, so I just dropped it.

Disclaimer: I really rarely drop a book like that.

I had to read Life of Pi for British Lit next year, but I began to read it even before I knew that it was required. The book is excellent in my opinion. It was presented in a rather unique way and I really enjoyed it. I never got bored with it, and many of my friends who have read it say they didn't either. The only problem I had with it was the ending, but that just adds another layer to the story.

I have to agree that it is not the best for "SAT words," but if you are just looking for a really good read, I highly recommend it.

I kind of enjoyed it. Almost everyone in my class really did, but I tend to prefer older books with a more traditional style. This book is clearly more modern than, say, Great Gatsby. I also didn't find that it had much literary value compared to some other books, but that is perhaps because I grew tired with it.

My negative impression is NOT the norm, so please don't let mine deter you from enjoyment. But it is not a book for everyone.

I really enjoyed it, though it's not great for 'SAT words'. I first read it in 9th grade and like it, but I reread it recently as it's been assigned as summer reading for my Comparative Religions class next year. I recommend it, but this is coming from someone who much prefers more modern books to classics. I actually persuaded my mom to read it, and she hasn't read a fiction book since college. I thought it got a bit dead in the middle, but it's definitely worth the read.

The last month that I actually paid a visit to the bookstore (happens extremely rarely), I read the first 30 pages or so, and it was so boring, it was like lists of animals, animals, and more animals, and animal behavior, and animal behavior, and more animal behavior...

what is it exactly about? animals? tigers? zebras? raccoons? aardvarks? not interested.

hopefully I'll check it out again, as according to you guys it has to do with religion (got hints of it in the book).

I really liked it, though the beginning was a bit boring...read it last summer
The ending is interesting (not going to give it away) and makes you think
